Handouts can meet a need for a day. Savings groups change how a family plans for a decade.

In Paynesville, Heart In Heaven supports church-based savings groups: small circles of neighbors who meet regularly to save together, learn budgeting, and extend small loans to one another from their own pooled savings. The model is led entirely by trained local facilitators, most of them members of the same churches and communities they serve.

The photo above shows what that training produces: facilitators holding their certificates after completing the program. Each facilitator goes on to lead groups in their own neighborhood, multiplying the training far beyond the original classroom.

The approach is often called economic discipleship, because the curriculum weaves biblical stewardship through every lesson. Families learn to save toward school fees, medical costs, and small business capital, and they learn it in community, where accountability and encouragement are built in.

This is what sustainable transformation looks like: not dependence on outside aid, but local leaders equipping their own neighbors to build resilience that lasts.
